Pipe Weight Calculator
Weight per metre and total weight for any pipe — steel, stainless, aluminium, copper and more.
How it is calculated
Weight (kg/m) = π × (OD − WT) × WT × density ÷ 1000, with OD and WT in mm and density in g/cm³. For carbon steel this is (OD − WT) × WT × 0.02466.
Reference values for quick estimates. For orders and invoices, use the standard and the mill test certificate.

Get a quotationUse (OD − WT) × WT × 0.02466 for carbon steel, with outside diameter and wall thickness in millimetres. The result is kg per metre — multiply by the length for the total weight.
Slightly. SS 304 is about 7.93 g/cm³ and SS 316 about 7.98 g/cm³, against 7.85 for carbon steel — roughly 1–2% heavier for the same size.
Mills work within thickness tolerances (often −12.5% on wall), so the weighed weight can vary from the theoretical value. Use the mill certificate for invoicing.
